Stories Behind the Stars volunteers has written tens of thousands of stories of the World War II fallen. We have enough content to share them on social media, such as Instragram, on a daily basis. We are looking for a volunteer or two who would like to manage this process so more people become aware of these noteworthy stories.
This story was written by Nancy Bachant:
Nancy shared this further information:
"My sisters and I will be visiting the place our father died Maison Blanche neighborhood of St-Gregoire, near Rennes, France, for the third time this August, and we see the involvement of the children of the village there every time we go (2014, 2019, now 2024) where the children place white roses for each of the 50 men killed there prior to the liberation of Rennes, in the combat of Maison Blanche. The children really like participating, where the name of the soldier is announced, they come up to the memorial stone, and place a white rose there, during which the announcer says, "He died for your liberty". It is very moving how the children are taught to remember each individual, and how enthusiastic they are to participate."
A story like this would make a great Instagram Reel and there are hundreds more that are also extra noteworthy. If you have some Instagram skills and would like to learn more about helping us with this method to attract more attention to the WWII fallen, email don@storiesbehindthestars.org
